Dr. Moira Smith

Dr. Moira Smith, Ph.D., P.Geo., is a globally recognized exploration geologist and senior mining executive with over three decades of experience discovering and advancing gold deposits across North America and beyond. She earned her doctorate in Geology from the University of Arizona and has combined robust academic training with extensive field-work, structural geology, and resource-modeling expertise. Throughout her career, she has led exploration and development initiatives for advanced projects across multiple jurisdictions, applying a deep understanding of geological controls, ore systems, and innovative exploration techniques.

As Chief Geologist, Nevada for Fronteer Gold, Dr. Smith played a pivotal role in the discovery and development of the company’s flagship project, successfully building the geological model that drove resource growth and eventual corporate value realization. Prior to Fronteer, she managed exploration programs for major mining firms, including significant deposits in Alaska, Central America, and Mexico, demonstrating her ability to navigate diverse geological settings and deliver high-value discoveries under variable conditions. More recently, she served as Vice President, Exploration and Geoscience at Liberty Gold, focusing on new gold-exploration and resource-growth targets across the Great Basin and beyond.

Dr. Smith now brings her long-standing technical leadership, strategic insight, and discovery record to her current board/advisor roles.
